A Valuable Lesson

by Luke, 5th grade

Once upon a time, some teeny tireless ants were gathering food for the winter. Although the mighty ants worked very hard, the grasshoppers were a bit more… lazy. Happily, they played all day. “We have loads of time,” they roared.

Soon enough, winter arose. There was not a single crumb of food to be found. The grasshoppers hurried to beg for food from the ants. “No,” the chief ant replied, “for it is your fault, not ours, that today you hunger.”

Moral: Work before you play.
